"Ming Ma-Jong" set: Cardboard chest of drawers, The booklet, from Admiral Oriental Line (steamship line) 1923, is not original to the set, but came with it. The celluloid faces slide into the tiles, which have runners. Being concave, the faces of the tiles don't wear from use. However, the set looks unused. |

Typical American set in "trumpet case", comes with 5 burgundy bakelite racks, has 2 sets of 5 flowers, extra's for "jokers" and a "moneybank" |
Finely carved set in slightly smaller size. Has no western numerals. Features: "fisherman", "fish", "rich man", "crock'o'gold" as "flowers/seasons". Includes 4 oriental style "jokers". |
Even smaller bone/bamboo set with nice quality carving. Inscription on box is first two lines from a traditional poem: "The sun us setting behind the mountains, the Yellow River flows down to the sea, if you wish to see further, then you must rise higher". Features: gold on some honours (see close-ups). Seasons include a set of 4 ladies. Includes 4 rabbits as "jokers". All dots are intricately carved and "flowered" from 1 thru 9 instead of simple circles within circles... |
