Set of bone tiles with black bone backs from China. HAs no western numerals. Most probably made from "fish-bone" (pulverised fish bones reconstituted). Lack of "Haversian System" attests to this. |
Another typical American set in trumpet case. Tiles are catalin in a faux alligator case. Comes with 5 multi-coloured racks. |
Travel set with zipped vinyl case. Tiles are hand-engraved and show the "complex" "wan" character on the character-tiles. |
Travel set of unknown substance. Definitely synthetic, but neither bakelite nor catalin an yet also seemigly not a very modern plastic. Shows some staining which was probably part of the manufacturing process. The tiles are hand-carved and feature flowers and seasons which are all "numbered" as the 4 winds, N,S,E,W. |

Modern set of Chinese tiles in slide-top box from the province of Yuangshuo. Both the bone and the bamboo of the tiles have been stained to give the appearance of antiquity. I have two of these sets and will readily sell one of them - feel free to email for details or better pictures. |
